Building the bridge between online engagement and in-store fun
When Kirkland’s came looking for a way to increase interaction and customer loyalty, we responded with Hostess Celebration – a two-way promotion that connected the MyKirklands.com community experience with the Kirkland’s shopping experience.
In-Store Engagement
Shoppers at Kirkland’s stores received an instant-win game card that was redeemable online for a chance to win a Kirkland’s gift card. Every participant also received a coupon for their next Kirkland’s purchase, which generated repeat-shopper traffic. More than 246,000 “You Win” game cards were redeemed on MyKirklands.com in a single month.
Deeper Engagement Online
In addition to redeeming their game card online, visitors to MyKirklands.com were offered the chance to win one of three dining rooms filled with Kirkland’s products. Community members could enter once daily and score a bonus entry by sharing on Facebook. In just one month, the sweepstakes generated 230,045 entries and 47,000 Facebook shares.
Partnering with Martha
To spread Hostess Celebration even further, we partnered with America’s most famous hostess, Martha Stewart. Along with placing strategic ads on MarthaStewartLiving.com, we sent a special email to all their subscribers that invited them to enter our big giveaway. More than 90% of the participants from that community were new to Kirkland’s. In addition, Martha Stewart Living sweetened the deal by contributing three prize packages worth more than $2,500.
Interactive Quiz
As a little icing on the cake, we built a fun, interactive Hostess Quiz to increase engagement and bring even more focus to Kirkland’s products. By taking the quiz, MyKirklands.com members could find their ideal Hostess Style: Gracious Goddess, Casual Cutie or Party Animal. The nearly 35,000 visitors who took the quiz could then share their style with their friends on Facebook.
Celebrating in Style
Hostess Celebration was an overwhelming success, garnering more than three million impressions overall, and more than 76,000 new email subscribers. The promotion not only met its goals but exceeded expectations for the in-store coupon redemption rate and revenue generation – all from a one-month campaign.
